Michael Coppinger and I began our friendship April 1987.
I was the instructor of the biomed photo 2 class and Michael
was the owner of JMC Eye Photo. Michael and Mark Maio volunteered to
come to RIT and teach ophthalmic photography to the biomed students. At that time, RIT had
no working ophthalmic cameras or faculty expertise in this area. Michael visited
RIT from that time until 1999. His insights, connections, contributions as an adjunct faculty member, and expertise
were vital to elevating the study of this subject for the biomed program during my first few years at RIT.
Over the course of his many visits, Michael shared his knowledge and spirit
freely to which I am forever grateful.
